Peter,
IIS doesn't appear to have a built-in module, but there are a number of
add-ons that add that functionality. Google "iis rewrite Windows 2000"
for more info.
Does the customer already use ISS on the server? If it isn't already
enabled and configured and they don't need to integrate ISS with other
Windows services, you might want to consider installing Apache. That is
just my opinion though. Either one is going to take some work to set up.

The ideal setup is to use apache in front of 4D to serve static

Is it an option to use Windows IIS ? (The 4D Client/Active 4D web
servers are running under Windows 2000 with IIS in the operating system).
I have been instructed to implement Aparajita 's suggested approach
(put 4D Client behind a web server and server the static content from
the frontline web server), even though I've told the customer that
I've not done a setup like this before and it's a learning curve for me.
Before I launch into invetsigating this / learning Apache mod_rewrite
etc (or getting someone in to help me) I thought I better check the
option of using the web server that's already there.
Any comments regarding the relative merits if using Apache or IIS for
this ?
Regards
Peter
