However, my understanding is that 'On Web Connection' is always
called if the actual requested page or content isn't found, even
if the 'webDecoy' folder exists for real and without adding the
'4dcgi' prefix.
You are of course correct, I wasn't thinking clearly on that one.
Will this configuration allow me to take advantages of 4D's web
cache ?
If 4D's web server is serving content, it should. If you enter the
url /4DSTATS you can see the cache hit stats to see if it is working.
What seems like a long time ago when we first started using Active4D,
I was converting from 4D's tag stuff to Active4D and had both running
at the same time (both Active4D and 4DServer pages served). Can't
remember how I did it, but I remember getting chastised for doing it!
(think I had stuff in On Web Authentication or something that may
have caused a problem)
Anyhow, we converted to Active4D shortly after. I never removed my
original web root. After reading this post, I tried to access 4DSTATS
and got an authentication challenge which I couldn't get past. I then
tried a couple html files in the old web root and was surprised that
they worked (served - not parsed).
Does this mean I can serve static pages out of the "webDecoy" folder
without causing a problem? Don't have a use, but almost sounds like
serving dynamic pages with "onWebConnectionHook" would also work?
Don't have much static stuff, in fact we just converted most of it to
work under our fusebox layout. It looks like I have the option. Not
sure it would give me anything more than a "safe documents" directory
gives me.
