John,

At Scranton we use Viewfinity to manage privilege elevations for the desktops.
Staff enter a business justification that is reviewed and approved by our IT
staff. Faculty can self-elevate if they need to download an application.

Let me know if you want to talk with our Client Services folks who manage this.

Subject: [acupa-l] Adminsitrative Access (Rights) to Computers Policy

We are evaluating our current practices in regard to granting Administrative
Access to employee computers. Currently, we do not allow Administrative Access
but allow a few exceptions. I am interested in finding out about relevant
policies at other institutions. I am especially interested in policies that
specifically allow Administrative Access for faculty.

Thank you.
