UAB has a Sick Time Donation Policy<http://www.uab.edu/policies/Pages/LibraryDetail.aspx?pID=355> that allows an employee to voluntarily donate his or her accrued sick time to another. UAB also operates a benevolent fund<http://www.uab.edu/policies/content/Pages/UAB-HR-POL-0000210.aspx> that provides emergency financial assistance to employees under certain circumstances, like during periods of financial hardship due to medical issues. If either of those are on point for you, there should be contact information available on those respective pages for individuals on campus with more details.
