Hello Leah,
We have a Facilities policy that address renting our buildings to off-campus
groups, but it doesn't specifically address weddings. I have pasted the policy
below:

Employee Use of Facilities and Equipment

Events Division
Wake Technical Community College allows faculty, staff, community groups and
organizations to rent or use college classrooms, laboratories, and conference
rooms for academic or educational purposes, when those facilities are not in
use for student classes or college activities.

Academic and educational purposes include: workshops, conferences, seminars,
and job skills training.

The college does not reserve or rent space on a continual basis, or for social
or fund-raising functions. Any request to rent or use college facilities that
differs from the protocol outlined above will be referred to the college
president or executive vice president for a decision.

Refer to the Events department
website<http://www.waketech.edu/about-wake-tech/administrative-offices/events-home>
for more information including rental hours, fees, locations, and rental
procedures.

For employees desiring to use college facilities during non-working hours,
refer to Use of Facilities (Non-Operating Hours), located at the end of this
section.

Thank you,
Rachel

Subject: Events (specifically wedding) policies

Hello ACUPA members,

I am writing to gain an understanding of what policies other universities may
have adopted regarding renting out space or facilities for weddings. Our
current policy states that weddings are prohibited on campus and a task force
is being formed to look into changing that policy.

Any thoughts or advice on how to proceed would be welcome.

Thank you.
