At Memorial University, the policy systems a communications plan be included in
the policy submission that goes forward for approval. These are generally very
brief and we offer policy sponsors some guidance in preparing that:
http://www.mun.ca/policy/framework/toolkit/communications.php . By way of
explanation, the Gazette is our University newspaper, which is now entirely
online; the MUN Today is an online newsfeed; and Newsline is a University-wide
listserv which delivers email announcements about many subjects, not only
policy developments, daily. This feature, of having a communications plan for
every policy is intended to tailor the messaging to the applicable audience for
the policy subject matter. I mentioned they are brief, usually three to four
sentences.

Subject: [acupa-l] Policy Announcements (Follow-up/related item)

I've been reading the responses to David's earlier question and found the
response helpful! Thanks to everyone for sharing. We have a related issue about
policy announcements, and would be curious about how, specifically, campuses
"announce" new policies or policy revisions. We have a feed on our website of
latest actions, and on high profile policies such as campus carry or sexual
assault, there is an presidential announcement via email. But we're struggling
with the most effective way to communicate revisions on some of the lower
profile/operational type policies, such as cash handling, etc.
