I knew I wasn't on the bleeding edge but you have a VCR with a USB2 port? Wow. My turn of the century VCRs accept RCA cables from my camcorder, which is in turn connected to my PC and Premiere via firewire. I'd assume you can use your Dazzle in place of my camcorder. The red and while are for stereo audio and the yellow for video. If you have S-video, use that in place of the yellow RCA. Start your VCR on taping and play your captured video from the timeline in Premiere.
USB2 is technically faster than Firewire 400 (although 800 blows it away), but practically, firewire will supposedly handle a peak transfer rate, sustained over time, better than USB2. My guess is that the jury is still out on this. Certainly if you run Raptest or something like it on an external USB2 drive, such as the WD 120GB I attach to my laptop for video work away from the office, it's more than fast enough to read and write DV, and I've captured to it without problems, but I still read that it's less reliable than a firewire external drive, which I use on my editing system. David Hurdon PS If you're going to stick with version 6 in Premiere, download Adobe's free upgrade to 6.02. It doesn't fix the pixel aspect ratio bug but it's quite an improvement overall. I love it already and have just barely started using it. My first project: I want to duplicate a VCR tape. Does anyone know of a list of things to do to accomplish this? I have successfully captured the 30 minute tape into my cpu but can't for the life of me figure out how to write it back out to a blank tape. I have tried what seems like everything! I plug my VCR into my new Dazzle DVC-80 via USB 2.0. There are soooo many possibilities when even capturing the data. Is there one that is best for this sort of thing? Is there a better choice than "NTSC 640x480 Video for Windows"? By the way a friend suggested that USB 2.0 is 480 mega bits per second max while fire wire is only 400 mega bits per second. Can anyone confirm this please? Thanks a lot, John ------------------------ Yahoo! Groups Sponsor --------------------~--> Make a clean sweep of pop-up ads. Yahoo! Companion Toolbar.
