Am on Premiere 6.5 - any work around for that?

My experiences are same as listed by David below.

I assume from Wes' post that Pro doesn't care what video track you're in
when you apply opacity. I occasionally have your problem in 6.5 (like ten
minutes ago), and going back to drag down the red dot that remains at the
top of the bar fixes things. For some reason, dragging it out of the track
(top or bottom) doesn't seem to work at the extreme ends, as it does
anywhere in between.

Drop a dissolve transition of the required length at the end of the clip -
it's quicker, does the same thing and is never hit or miss. (presuming
