I see both advantages and disadvantages to a tape less workflow.
If your memory card gets hosed, you may have lost a lot of footage.
Whereas if a tape gets wrinkled, you've lost a few seconds of footage.
As you point out, tape is not perfect either. Did mixing tape brands
cause the mechanical problems?
