I am sure, intellectually, that Enlightenment is when there is no longer a sense of self within something that appears to be a human. And I am sure that having this intellectual understanding does not make one Enlightened (no matter how many really-smartypants, complicated-sounding books Ken Wilbur writes!) But it can, perhaps, "keep one on track" so that you don't think that, for example, if you get really good at stilling your mind you are therefore getting closer to achieving Enlightenment. Or that by doing more good deeds you are getting closer to achieving Enlightenment. Or that by having more and more mind-blowing, blissful, cool, funky spiritual experiences you are therefore getting closer to achieving Enlightenment. Or that there is anything at all that you can do to achieve Enlightenment. The intellectual understanding is that absolutely none of these has anything whatsoever to do with what Enlightenment is or is not.
