If I were in charge of you I would remove YOU from YOUR position because you have no skills at dealing with people. To address your question, here in America, in development positions, a lot of times we hire people based on their PEOPLE SKILLS, intelligence, potential, drive, and ability to learn rather than their having 100% knowledge of a programming subject. > Maybe there is an insult in this for an american. > If you behave incompetent, then being called incompetent is not an insult. > Besides, maybe, for an american - seems this culture honours an idiot who is nice higher than someone being right but saying that the other dude is an idiot. Unfortunately, semi-competent nice guys finish first a lot of the time ahead of the brilliant yet abrasive guys. > But then, the US IS the terrorist state nr 1 in the world, so this is expected behavior, sort of. I'm not even going to dignify this ridiculous comment with a response. I did NOT call the original guy an idiot. I did tell him to read SQL 101, but I did NOT call him an idiot. > responsible he would have removed him from his position. > There's no arrogance or insults there..... No. There is no insult in this. And no arrogance. I WOULD have removed him from any position where is is responsible for SQL. I normally do not leave people on such positions which make trainee mistakes. This is not arrogance. This is fact. If you can not stand the facts, then - well - there are other worlds, you know. Maybe there is an insult in this for an american. If you behave incompetent, then being called incompetent is not an insult. Besides, maybe, for an american - seems this culture honours an idiot who is nice higher than someone being right but saying that the other dude is an idiot. But then, the US IS the terrorist state nr 1 in the world, so this is expected behavior, sort of. > Andrew Baudouin > Applications Programmer See, it does not say "Lead developer" Or something. So I assume you are simply not responsible for handling personell. Which makes it clear why you would not revmove someone without appropriate knoelsedsge from a position he holds but lacks the knowledge to fullfill.
