Well I have XP SP2 RTM on my PC here. The Windows and Windows/System32 folders have tons of system files dated as being Modified on 8/4/2004 with file versions as being SP2
The Framework folder of v1.1.4322 has not any files dated that recently. So I would say that folder wasn't touched by SP2. Regards, J. [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Shawn A. Van Ness Sent: Sunday, August 22, 2004 7:32 PM To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] Subject: [ADVANCED-DOTNET] .NET vs Windows SP versioning? Two simple questions for which I should know the answer, but don't: Does XP SP2 include the .NET framework? If so, what version(s)? Does it include any bits from the upcoming .NET service packs [1]? [1] http://msdn.microsoft.com/netframework/downloads/updates/sptechpreview/ I've heard varying stories, so I'm looking for an authoritative answer, here. (The FAQ at [1] says XP SP2 is "not the same thing" -- duh -- but it stops short of saying XP SP2 doesn't touch the .NET Framework at all.) I've always hoped that, one day, I would experience a flash of enlightenment and understand why the v1.1 assemblies are alternately versioned as v1.0.5000.0 and v1.1.4322.573, in the GAC and Fx dir respectively. But I've been working with .NET for years now, and it hasn't happened... My point is, I'm not even sure what to begin looking for, to see if XP SP2 touched the CLR. If anyone can give me a clue, I'd be grateful. -S =================================== This list is hosted by DevelopMentor(r) http://www.develop.com Some .NET courses you may be interested in: Essential .NET: building applications and components with CSharp August 30 - September 3, in Los Angeles http://www.develop.com/courses/edotnet View archives and manage your subscription(s) at http://discuss.develop.com IMPORTANT NOTICE Email from OOCL is confidential and may be legally privileged.
