BBEdit definitely supports syntax coloring as well as running Perl 
from within the BBEdit environment, Perl "filters" to run against the 
editor window contents, etc. There's integrated "help" (select a 
keyword, press the magic key combination, read the online-doc for 
that keyword...

I'd call it a Perl IDE for Mac OS. In fact, I did recently...
