CPAN makes a great selling point but it might be likened to buying a car;
When you see the ad on TV that gets you to think 'hmmm, I might want to
test drive that' you see a professional driver on an empty road with nice
camera angles and all the trim. You get to the dealership, kick the tires,
take it out for the drive and see if it has a tiptronic or manual
transmisson, what colours it comes in and if you can get leather seats and
the cool drink holder. And, depending on a series of not completely
practical decisions, you buy the gas guzzling SUV to drive through the
flat suburban environs. You bought the car, but you were really buying the
image. It's not so different for people deciding on which technology to go
with. 

"Hi, would you like CPAN with that?" :)
