There's a clip on NBC news today showing elephants
painting.  Very impressive.  They are trained by
artists.  So do you gotta be as smart as an elephant
to be a good art student?   If elephants can be
taught, why not people?  Art can be taught but the
results are still propositional, meaning beyond the
judgment of teacher or student, unless the teacher's
judgment rules, as it usually does in art school, at
least for the short term.
