Freud said the basis of humor and dreams is puns. Ernst more or less invented the surrealist genre of collage, a sort of punning without explicable connections between the images.
Your meaninglessness is based on detaching the signified from the signifier, "meaning" from the word, disassembling the word and reassembling it as you wish into a pun, an inexplicable association, or a new form altogether.
