I doubt that any of them ever heard anyone be so negative about any of Manet's compositions. But, let's ask Mando: Mando, did you ever hear anyone criticize Manet in the way that you have? Meanwhile, where do your aesthetic opinions about Manet's last painting come from? They are utterly conventional in our time: * "that paean to visual space" * "subtle interplay of the symmetry relations" * " evocation of space and atmosphere in the picture is superb * "haze that mutes the lights as they recede into the distance is lapidary" ... most of it you probably read elsewhere -- and why shouldn't you? As you well know, the job of an art expert is not to have opinions, but to report accurately on the acceptable opinions of others. In order to "produce a relatively stable framework which will enable and order social productivity." Or... at least to qualify as an art expert and get a job in that industry. ____________________________________________________________ Senior Assisted Living Put your loved ones in good hands with quality senior assisted living.
