OK, I didn’t know ePMP had Lites. I thought Cambium had learned their lesson
about license keys and didn’t do it on ePMP, which I guess is true as far as
capacity keys.

I don't think there ever were any 450i Lite APs, so I suppose if the standard
450 isn't being produced anymore, the Canopy Lite AP is probably a thing of the
past... but we don't use them, so I don't know for sure.

They do still make and sell ePMP 1000 and ePMP 2000 Lite APs. It doesn't sound
like there are any plans for an ePMP 3000 Lite AP, however.

Do they even sell the Lite APs anymore? Not the upgrade keys, but new Lite APs?

I kind of assume we are going to have to replace all the 450 APs with 450i at
some point, and if we need to upgrade a Lite, just swap out the AP rather than
buy the license key. Maybe redeploy the Lite.

It’s a pain remembering which are 450 and which are 450i, remembering which
have internal GPS sync and which don’t, remembering which need 24V power and
which need 48V, which have GigE interfaces, which take Cambium sync, and if you
ever had 430 APs, which had different pinouts. But Cambium likes to keep
moving our cheese and making our life difficult challenging interesting.

I just don’t see why something like this takes this long to accomplish. I could
have bought and shipped an actual AP to my office faster than getting a license
key. I see where you guys have circumvented the wait time but should we really
have to do that? I definitely like using the Lite APs because like you some of
them I won’t ever have to upgrade but right now #11 is sitting there waiting as
patient as a customer can. This is also the first Lite AP I’ve ever had to
upgrade. I wasn’t aware the process took this long in 2019.

If you use Lite APs, you need to just make sure you always have at least one
license key stored, and get new one ordered as soon as you use it.

It does cost a little bit more to use Lite APs and then upgrade them, but in a
lot of cases we never have to upgrade them... there's also the advantage that
if the AP dies after it's out of warranty, you can get Cambium to transfer the
license to a new Lite AP.

Because the work is done in advance.

As far as ePMP I stock Lite radios on the shelf and 1 full in the van for quick
repairs. I have license keys stored on my account with a lite to full key so I
can do that in a pinch. It's kind of the same money but I have lite radios I
can replace and I don't need to put up full ones in any event.

I have no idea why it takes so long to get a license key when I can literally
get an actual AP here overnight with ground shipping. I should have just bought
the big boy version. In this day and age you’d think it was almost instant.
