They have a good model, now that they've made it work. Control the whole product and you can offer great support. Pretty tough for Microsoft when anyone can throw a PC together. The Windows 10 situation is interesting to me, shows they are really re-orientating their business model.

That's true. That's why they have Genius Bar. Not really trying to argue here, but their support over Windows/PC is flat out awesome. Take it for a ride one day and go to one of their stores...they make it easy, they personally take the time to teach their clients things, and they even hold micro classes for people to teach them how to use it. Granted not every city has one, it's still available to many people.

My view from the phone support perspective is people should buy
whatever device they like, as long as they know how to use it, or
    are willing to learn.
But if you are ignorant and like it that way, please disregard the
outdated wisdom that any idiot can operate a Mac because they are
so simple and intuitive. If you don’t even know where the power
switch is, how to launch an application or find a file, or how to
connect to a WiFi network, please buy whatever the other 95% of
the world buys, because that’s what I’m going to be able to walk
you through from memory, crib sheets, or the Windows machine
    sitting on my desk.
Don’t buy a foreign sports car and then expect the dealer or gas
station attendant to teach you how to shift. If you are lucky to
know what hole the gas goes in, you should have bought the Camry.

It's hard to argue with a company that makes $180B+ last year, and
has a market cap of $700B+, and has some of the largest earnings
of all time. I don't think there's a company of that size in that
space. Google and Microsoft's estimated value together are not as
big as Apple's. Someone is doing something right...all of them do
something...but it definitely shows someone is doing something
right. Just because I use an iPhone doesn't mean I can't prefer
    Windows on the desktop.

Say what you want... Apple is still the largest company in

they can spend... and Samsung is losing more money every
            quarter. :)

Largest based on stock price. That's a moving target. Apple
        will rot someday.

All the phone manufacturers love Android because it's
free. Ask any of them if they would actually pay for it
and see what response you get. LOL

Apple gives theirs away too, but you have to buy an Apple
phone to use it. No thanks. I don't like the tiny box you have
to live inside in order to use it.

Just like everyone is jumping on Windows 10... because
            it's a free upgrade.

And Apple gives theirs away too for the most part.
