It seems to me that there is some confusion between Apple as a tech leader
and Apple as a company.
Apple as a great company. They have fantastic marketing and a rabid
fan base willing to buy just about anything with a bite out of it. Nearly
everyone is convinced that any Apple product is easy to use or at least the
easiest to use. Fantastic earnings, a locked in subscriber base, huge
recurring revenue streams. Even their PE at 13.38 is more reasonable than a
great many riskier and less proven companies.
Apple as a tech leader. Hmmmm.... Hasn't come out with a really new
idea in a decade, technically is usually slower and more expensive. The
watch, years behind other products, the iPad, same thing. iPhone....didn't
take off until after a huge price drop but was arguably their last
innovation. Actually reminds me of Motorola except with a better phone than
the Razor. Motorola never had the same hippie cool vibe though, just
quality, which it turns out few consider during the purchasing cycle.

But please refer to the above company discussion, in in my world ( the one
where I don't give a poot about all that tech crap because it has nothing
to do with making money ) it is irrelevant. If Apple continues to convince
people they MUST have whatever they are selling they will continue to do
great things in the financial sector regardless of whether or not the
techno geeks believe they deserve it.
