If you could get accurate enough location, you could use two locations to calculate the aim of the tool. I am guessing that is how they did it. GPS, inclinometers, mag compass etc. But the flux gate magnetic compass gets thrown off by towers. So it was not worth even trying in my opinion. Now, if they have discovered a way to get heading info that can be relied upon, good for them. I couldn’t solve the problem.
