What's huge? A Mean Well RSD is going to be rather large. There's also the Traco DIN rail mount (TCL series, and that will be over $50/ea), but that is also pretty large. What application?

We have used these to power radios off batteries for installers. They are adjustable - we set them 48v out on 16.2v battery packs.

    Looking for the smallest cheapest 12 volt to 48 volt unit that
    will do 20 watts.

    Digi-Key has some but they are not cheap. Looking for something in
    the $20 range.
