I ordered a few.  At the very least, if they work out, I can just copy the 
circuit.  It is probably just the same circuit as the ap note for the regulator 
chip.

Here's one that's a bit smaller, but probably still too big. who knows if it 
will be around for awhile... it's direct from China, but there's a ton of this 
sort of stuff on ebay and amazon.

      We have used these to power radios off batteries for installers.  They 
are adjustable - we set them 48v out on 16.2v battery packs.

      Looking for the smallest cheapest 12 volt to 48 volt unit that will do 20 
watts.  

      Digi-Key has some but they are not cheap.  Looking for something in the 
$20 range.
