On my drive home I decided Canopy was a Honda Civic. Affordable, reliable, everything a commuter needs and nothing they don't. Alvarion was a Honda with bulletproof windows and an aerodynamic wing, and you had to put in the high octane gas or the engine would knock. It might have had spinners on the hubcaps and a fake hood scoop.

He also said he watched a superior product (Alvarion) be
supplanted by a product that delivered features that the customers
really wanted (Motorola), so his intent is to create an offering
that people will actually want and is also superior....or words to
    that effect.

IMO there's a logical fallacy there about the Alvarion vs Motorola
thing**, but his intent for the future seems to be on the right track.

(**Specifically.....if something is superior in ways that the
market doesn't care about, then it's not superior. Like a car
with a grenade launcher. A certain subset of the population will
be impressed, but most of the marketplace will find this feature
superfluous and won't want to pay for it. Especially if you live
in a state that doesn't allow you to use the grenade launcher. Not all operators are in Utah after all.)

Well here's my thoughts. I'm currently using ePMP. It does
pretty well, but there's little to know nLOS functionality. 2400
MHz with ePMP gets scarred by even a few trees. There are a lot
of homes (maybe 20%) that we could hook up if we could burn
    through some trees.

20% more customers/revenue doesn't justify the expense of Telrad
    - this is with the assumption that Telrad would be able to burn
through the trees at 3650. Huge waste in capex if we don't get
those extra customers unless we can really upsell customer's on
higher bandwidth rates (I expect this to be minimal).

If Baicells can offer the same (assumed) nLOS capability at a
lower cost and I can hook up 20% more customers, the numbers
could certainly work. More people are happy we can give them
service and Imagine is happier to have the greater revenue (and a
    safe bet of higher ARPU).
