We've fallen a bit apart, but several years ago I had a friend immigrate from 
the UK. It was quite difficult. 

My wife's whole family has immigrated from the Philippines. Some of them since 
we started dating. Well, we as in my wife and I. Not me and my wife's grandma. 
Yes, it's not a cake walk. That's why legal immigrants are probably the most 
offended by illegal immigrants.

Just talk to someone that has tried to immigrate legally and you will 
learn about the hoops they jump through just to stay. Somehow, if you 
make it across the Mexico border you're here to stay.
