While the thought of giving my life up because another will surely fill in my position (no harm done to the hive) seems like a working-plan, it's not, I want to resist death, as soon as I feel pain of hunger I can't go through with it, I press the button and extend my life. So although the hive will prosper, my body resists death/pain quite a lot. So here we have a global system hive, and although I'm stronger etc, it would have no loss if someone refills my position. So why don't I allow it? Say I'm old and will feel no pain if I take the pill. But I'm determined to live and work on evolution, I reverse my age and press the button, no one will refill my position (only other seats) so it's a loss if I do (or no one will know how to fly the aircraft off the island but me). I'm also determined to stay alive, so twice as much reason then.
All in all you have a globally-persisting system made of smaller such ones and death of the correct nodes is just a way to grow and sustain itself. As you have seen, I really want to stay alive, and attempt for a great benefit for all. So I have 2 reasons to not turn in my position. It's just a system, death is normal, you need the correct gears, they refuse failing also, and the ones that are the most important for future sustaining are kept alive, until replacements are eventually worth it. Everyone is out for themselves, while we can all agree the most important person should have a longer life. So the 'fighting keeps your life license' still overides that actually but eventually the big fighter crane will recycle you if you don't do much even if you were strong, so the crane is stronger now, a large recycle crane has only one use but it never needs replacing, I think. My point is, all parts of Earth resist death to a degree and the more eligible get longer lives, there's no murder crime, only a physics reaction, that's why you get some getting away with it. The law varies, some are stronger and in the case of a enforcer chasing you some are smarter in fleeing the zone. Some can just blow up Earth an get away with it. Law varies. In a global regenerating system, the gears that are most useful to it maintain their life.
