While I don't think this isn't necessarily an AGI related topic, it is an extremely important one which I believe could help bring about AGI faster.
I work for a software company and while I follow most of what you are saying, I am most definitely part of the minority. You don't need to be very smart to realize that not eating like shit and exercising regularly will benefit you mentally and physically. Yet, so many extremely smart programmers let these simple things slip. If you consider yourself a good programmer, just imagine how much better you will be if you exercised at least 30 minutes a day. I find it hard to imagine living a lifestyle as a software engineer where I am not working out everyday. Its not natural to spend all day sitting. Its become second nature to me to the point that I really look forward to my workouts. Cardio is a really good refreshment but if I want real motivation, I do heavy squats or other compound exercises. Aside from Yerba Mate (http://ma-tea.com/), which I highly recommend you start consuming, Testosterone is by far the best drug when it comes to getting shit done. Its good to take supplements for your nutritional needs but its inconceivable how much more important it is to have a good diet. I try to avoid almost all fast food unless its a sub or pita. To get my daily doses of fruits and vegetables, I use a juicer. I am not big fan of eating many fruits and vegetables so this is perfect way to give my body those needed nutrients. At first when you start juicing, it will make you tired, which I believe is due to the detox effect is has on your body. It gets better though and I find it provides an amazing boost to my brain/body stamina now. Like Logan says, if you find yourself being a lazy ass, start making these changes slowly..
