Just so we are all on the same page here: *Uploading* is transferring something of someone into a central computing system, so everyone can continue "living" in a virtual reality.
*Downloading* is somehow "reading" the neural connectome and transferring an equivalent functionality into an artificial body, to continue "living" in the real world. I think everyone agrees that if possible, downloading would be preferable to uploading, both because of the actual continuation of consciousness, and because of its real-world manifestation. Unfortunately, many/most people believe this to be hopelessly beyond presently known methods. This development would seem to render obsolete the concept of uploading, except perhaps to those who are addicted to video games. Uploading appears to be a workaround whose time has gone long before it has come. Right? If so, then how about some help getting downloading up and running?
