bosonic light body of information,
brining experience from former lives,
to enrich the current one.

yes, the animist perspective dictates all things,
and even thoughts have souls, or bosonic information bodies.

Why? because of the laws of thermodynamics,
or law of conservation of mass and energy,
when applied to information.

I believe in soul,
since I have past-life memories.
Admitedly I worked on recovering them for many years.
A sceptic could easily say they are a personal fiction.

However past-life memories are a fairly common phenomena,
as is reincarnation. In fact reincarnation is so deep seated in
hinduism, that the main goal of hinduism and buddhism is to escape
reincarnation or achieve what they call "liberation from samsara",
samsara being the endless cycle of rebirth.

There are the Tibetan Tulku,
which are a group of souls which have been recognizing each others
reincarnated forms, and testing them thoroughly for verification.
This has allowed them to rule over their monastic lineages for
hundreds of years, over the span of as many as 17 incarnations thus
far for the Karmapa, the Dalai Lama being in his 14th incarnation.

In the sci-fi of my personal history,
I remember technological host bodies "in a galaxy far far away",
one of the main issues was "soul slavery". There were these vessels,
which consisted of something like a small upside down stool, which
held an electric field which could entrain a soul, thus keeping it
from leaving, similar to the electric field produced by our brains.
This is hinted at in our culture through "selling souls".

when we go "Brain dead" people often report out of body experience,
and "near death" experiences, where they go into the light of the
magnetosphere, and meet some version of a soul counselor to help them
reintegrate into the soul community and prepare them for their next
life.
There are lots of books of hypnotic regression into in-between-life
experience such as "Destiny of souls".

Anyways back to soul technology, the soul-stool was typically inserted into the
computation substrate of a host-body, with preprogrammed
memories and utility function, which the "slave master" would
like it perform during it's life.

Depending on the adeptness of the soul, it would have a service life
of from a few years to decades or even centuries, till the soul
figured out who it was and went "rogue" or demanded freedom etc.
at which point typically the body would be either wiped or destroyed,
the soul inserted into a new body with new more cryptic memories.
obviously we are still far off from that kind of tech around here.

Anyways, what I'm saying is, that this whole uploading business,
of preprogramming host bodies with memories,
it can go in many directions.

continuity is nice,
but so is freedom.

I think we should always keep liberty/freedom in mind and design.
