First of all: You are not your body and you are not your brain. You are
consciousness utilizing a physical embodiment in order to learn - just
like a kid uses the Super Mario character to entertain itself. Body and
brain are just part of your embodiment. Super Mario's head and beard are
part of the embodiment. Super Mario's jump animation is part of the
embodiment ... spiking neurons in your physical brain are parts of your
embodiment as well. They are not YOU ... they are just there to give you
a limited interface to this reality until your awareness increases.
An analogy: A normal WoW player will use his keyboard and mouse in order
to change the vector of his/her avatar's "camera". The head of the
avatar is not part of the player ... the "camera" view is not part of
the player. A software engineer might change the FOV or alter the z-axis
of the camera vector on the fly ... or he might zoom out and enjoy a
birds view. A normal player (without a background in software
engineering) who does not question the "fact" that he/she is only
capable of controlling his/her avatar will never think about any of this.
Now, if the kid wants access to the internet then it will stop playing
Super Mario Land and request some webpage on the internet ... it will
not complain about Super Mario not having access to the internet via
some magical "POW" block. The kid instinctively understands that there
is no interface/API built into Super Mario nor anything Super Mario Land
related and that asking Luigi for a device that allows Mario to access
the internet is just stupid.
Nothing implemented within consciousness can measure consciousness. Your
oscilloscope is an illusion implemented within the consciousness FPGA
chip. It can not break out of the implementational sandbox. Only native
consciousness (YOU!) can interact with consciousness on a more
fundamental level. If you want access you need to stop playing entirely.
You need to practice shutting down all of the Super Mario Land input
(i.e. fading out most of the sensomotoric input from the physical realm).
It's not that hard to understand ... especially not if you have a
software engineering/digital electronics background like you do.
