Actually Elon is pretty functional, for what he does.... He functions
quite well at starting new tech businesses and making money and creating
new artifacts and getting media attention.... He may not carry out all
the functions you would like him to, but hey...

I agree that, from what I have read anyway, his world-view is a fairly
narrow materialistic-focused perspective.... Yet in this case I think his
thinking is pretty much on-target. What he is arguing is that in the
pursuit of creating broader, smarter, deeper minds --- it is better to
engage more and more of the mindpower of the planet in an open-minded,
open-ended way ... rather than to follow a more rigid, constrained approach
(as would happen inside a big company). He is also arguing that the
creation of new minds should not be done solely in the context of the very
narrow goals of current organizations like governments or for-profit
companies.... That someone so tied into the corporate system and the
money economy would come to these conclusions is impressive to me, and
indicates to me Elon Musk's ability to think very penetratingly in some
regards...
