Just to be clear...it is not log4j which uses static initializers, it is
Tyrex which calls log4j from a static initialiazer.  In case you think that
depending on logkit makes you any more safe from breaking changes:

What is very sad about this discussion is that whenever it comes up, I can
inevitably find timely (like this very morning) and relevant to the person
I'm talking to (Stefano/Cocoon) examples.
