I once had an L-Jetronic Lancia which exhibited the start and die symptoms mentioned. The solution was a fuse. I suggest carefully check your fuses for hair line cracks.
The technician worked on the car for a month while I enjoyed my GTV6. Frustrated, the tech suggested I take the car to another shop, no charge. I know the first tech looked at the fuse block, I saw it with the cover off. The second shop focused on fuses to begin with and solved the problem in fifteen minutes.
