Concerning Jak's 164 rear brakes, sounds like another possibility is a
not-quite-released parking brake. But going through the rear brake
system to verify smooth operation of all points would seem like a good
thing. "Squishy" brakes might mean that the proportioning valve isn't
doing what it's supposed to do. If the proportioning valve
malfunctions, I'd expect either to lock up the rear brakes on
application of brake, or not to have the rear brakes work much at all.
Jak seems to have to apply too much brake, with no wheel locking up.
Could air in the (rear?) lines do this? Is the fluid level in the
reservoir low, allowing some air into the system?

Subject: [alfa] 164 Rear Brakes
Hi !
drove the '94 164Q a few days ago, brakes got squishy a couple of times,
got home & both back wheels were untouchably hot, could it be the
proportioning valve back there that looks like a block of rust ?
