Hi Mike.

Don't have any experience with the recorder you are talking about, but with respect to Binaural microphones, I took Neal Ewars advice and purchased a pair of BSM 90phones, which clipt ont each side of my hat or shirt.

At that time I had a simple Olympus DS50 and the results of my recordings were simply astonishing. I take your point about the quality of Olympus built-inmics and agree.

When I was at university, I could record, using the Olympus DS50 alone, in a large hall for as much as 7 hours as a single recording and the quality was superb .

I cannot find these headphones now as they are most probly lost amongst piles of old stuff, but I'm actually thinking of getting a new set from the same company. My BSM 90's were about £60, I think and they were great, so I'm wonder just how good the newer and more modern models from this company are?

Andy.

Subject: [all-audio] Introducing myself and a question about the Olympus DM720

Hello everyone,

My name is Mike Busboom and although I don’t own much audio recording equipment, I recently acquired an Olympus DM720 and would like to become more proficient at making good recordings with it.

I have two questions:

1. I am totally blind, so I really love the fact that the recorder has voice guidance. However, when going through recordings I have made with the unit, none of the titles is voiced. Is there any way to enable voice guidance when going through recordings I have made with the unit and if not, is there a work-around?

2. Many years ago, I used binaural microphones and was very impressed with the quality of my recordings. However, I would need to buy a new pair of binaural mics and am wondering who manufactures them these days, or have they been surpassed by something better. I must admit that some of the recordings I have made with the Olympus’s internal microphones are impressive in their own right.

My best to all of you,

Mike
