I tried quite a few times, but gave up and pulled out my Windows 7 machine. The eggtimer/finder cables aren't working on Windows 8.1 either, so I have a reason to have it at launches with me.
Not sure if it's possible with the Altus Metrum products, but I've considered using the Beeline USB-serial adapters with the eggtimers since those work perfectly fine on 8.1. There does appear to be pins for some sort of serial connection on my Telemega, but I'm not going to try to figure out if that works myself.
