Hi, I am just writting a few lines concerning Beverlys questions and Gairs responses. First of all I don't think we need a another New Media Festival. I think we need shows/exhibitions /performances curated with a broader perception of how art manifests itself now. On the other side "New Media Artists" might start dropping the "New Media" cause I can't see whats so new about it. Gair is contradicting himself when he asks : " ...am i the only one whose getting a bit tired of the increasingly prescriptive formula for new media where the correct subject for artwork is the net itself or code itself, ? It's getting like abstract expressionism where the only subject was the nature of painting itself... the result an endless series of bland works." "New Media" Artists who use the net or code as a subject are continuing thoughts and processes which abstract expressionists developed and used. Both produce "an endless series of bland works" and also some of the most radical and beautiful artworks. What I want to say is that you can be a Baroque artist even if you use miniDV and a G4 2000Mhz. But I guess its more difficult to get funding as a Baroque Artist then if one desribes oneself as a "New Media Artist". Maybe we should reserve the term "NEW" for washing powder Ads. See ya Torsten Lauschmann,
