Well, yes I just took over here (this branch is in Kansas City) but I was
told it's an ordinary Netscape server. The HTML administrative interface is
Netscape, as are all the docs. I understand 16 bit and 8 bit in theory but
never worked with such formats directly. I don't have a clue why this is
happening on our server or what I can do about it. My manager is a UNIX guru
who told me he might know of a utility to identify/change the problem within
the logfile. When I look at the logs in any software -- Notepad, Wordpad,
ColdFusion Studio -- it looks like normal text with *no* extra characters.
Likewise with my manager's UNIX terminal. Any advice or suggestions from
this forum would be very useful! (What we're talking about:)

Oh yes, so it does. That didn't happen in the sample lines in the e-mail.

Weird. I wonder how that happened. It says here you're in California, so we
can't blame internationalisation. Was this made by an actual Netscape
server? It's just that I've never seen this before.

Anyway, it seems that if you delete every other character you get a
perfectly good logfile! :)
