I think it must be a brain that I am missing after all as I
can't follow the last argument.

Are you saying that HOSTALIAS was designed to be used when
the report came back with "gamma" but you wanted "gamma.statslab.cam.ac.uk"
so that it was then used correctly in the domain/org parts of the report.
So you saw something in the report you didn't like/ wasn't useful and you
use an ALIAS command to change it.

If this is correct then that is what I am trying to do in
essence. I see lots of Unresolved addresses in my host report and
org/domain reports (say up to 25%). So I use HOSTALIAS to resolve these to
the ISPs who have these numbers assigned to them. Into the bargain if the
HOSTALIAS was performed before the DNS lookup then that would prevent a lot
of useless DNS cache entries and a lot of wasted time... Sorry - am I
alone in thinking this is a good idea then I will go away.

b.t.w. If it comes to it I could try to get one of the C programmers
here to change analog - if it comes to that where should I be looking to
make the change.

                Thanks Jamie
