Suppose you only have two requests in your logfile, one at 1am and one at
1pm on the same day. Then x = 2, m = 12 hours, but the correct rate is one
request every 12 hours, not 2 requests every 12 hours.

Of course for most logfiles x is large and it doesn't make much difference.
