I agree with Dan... This isn't Google's problem. The developers should be more responsible, but Google shouldn't be imposing more restrictions. One of the reasons why Android is so much better than iPhone is its openness and ability to do more than the iPhone.
I agree that battery life is a problem. But the individual developers are the ones responsible... not Google.
