I don't really need new users for 1.5. In fact, I'd rather avoid them.
Since you dropped them before Multiple APKs existed, I assume you
simply changed the minsdk attribute in a release.
Yes (April 4) and yes (changed some resources too).
Did anyone with 1.5
contact you after that?
Two or three users, maybe four or five. Not more than that.
And speaking of that idea, catering to every user's wish and need:
recently someone sent me email asking how he could purchase my app
without having to open a Google account (required to sign into Market).
He wouldn't do that on principle - you know, the number of the beast
that we'll all soon get tattooed on our foreheads, and corporations
being a front for the real rulers of the world, and all that. He was
quite angry with me, actually.
So - even if you support all Android versions going back to 1.0, someone
is still going to be angry and call it a fail.
IMHO, YMMV (and all that).
And if you want "the real answer for sure" (tm), fire off the Android
app wizard, make a small APK, and run some tests on your own, preferably
with a few devices varying in firmware and Market app versions.
