That's how it looks, and it is wrong, given the "open" spin? Android
was born with. If it looks like duck, if it quacks like a duck it
probably is one.
Let's keep this in mind and expectations were raised for an open
environment which wouldn't have Google, carriers or others to act as a
clearinghouse to control access to the app development and deployment
aspect of the platform. It was supposed to be open and spark the
development of "many great apps".
Hey - call me delusional for hanging on to the idea of handset users
relating to products and services to settle things and promote
innovation. With stuff that ain't, like, that useful or, like, that
cool you know, would be sorted out by the user base.

How would that not be a lame excuse?

So how hot is Android really? I'd say... it tends towards just another
handset platform right now. Little exercise here: How many genuine
Android engineering jobs are being offered around the country (US)
right now, indicating genuine product or service development? I came
up with three, so double or triple that up, perhaps multiply it by a
factor of ten to compensate for what I didn't catch in this quick
survey and you'll agree with me that Android app development is not
exactly sizzling hot. (And no, I am not an angry dude who's out of a
job)
