Android on the G1 supports MPEG4 ASP(h263) and AVC(h264) in a 3gp or mp4 container. When transcoding, you have to take care. A good start is to search on the web for applications to transcode for the Iphone/Ipod Touch. AVI is currently not a supported container (not the same as CODEC). AVI is popular (partially because it is not encumbered with patents as mpeg/mp4/asf/etc are), but it is inefficient and requires hacks to use advanced CODEC features. 3gp allows for streaming video (rtsp - try zoovision.com) and mp4 is a good container.
I suspect that AVI/MPEG2 are incorrect. Although this can be taken care of in an iTunes fashion (sync software does conversion to supported types for portable device). The other formats do work on the G1. Usually the difference between SD and SDHC is in software or firmware, not in the hardware. As long as Android supports SDHC, an SD slot will probably support SDHC. This phone looks like a cheaper Blackberry-esque version with lower-res screen and no compass/accelerometer. Not great, not bad, just another option (and thinner if you like that in a phone).
