We could talk about the specific effects of increased battery drain, CPU 
Usage, heat generation, etc., but I think at this early stage our 
biggest concern is Androids reputation.

Everyone knows this is early days for Android, and given the credit 
crunch carriers are not being as free and easy with their money as they 
have been, so if Android gets a reputation for being slow and 
unresponsive (which was the main side effect quoted in that thread), 
it's unlikely carriers will want to adopt it as the OS for their 
higher-end 'phones.

Yes Android is cheap to implement, but if it means a string of customers 
bringing back the $300+ phones because they're performing like a 90 year 
old at a break dancing competition, that isn't good.
