Very unfortunately I don't think I can do much about it.

If the cupcake Home can be adapted to compile in a 1.0 environment
(probably not against the 1.0 SDK, but retrofitted against a 1.0
source tree), and renamed so that it doesn't conflict with the
built-in one in the G1, it might be possible to actually run it onto a
G1.

>From that point, you could do changes in that local hybrid
environment, test them on your device, and when you're ready for
upstream submission cherry-pick them back into a clean "master"
repository, test them in the emulator, and repo upload them.
