Stoyan, I had no idea you were located in Bulgaria, the situation on debit cards is pretty much the same 4there in the US, you almost always get a free Visa or Mastercard debit card whenever you open a new bank account, and these cards can be used like a regular credit card, debit cards are so prevalent here that quite a few palces do not even accept personal checks, and truthfully I don't remember the last time I wrote a personal check.
But adding paypal or direct debit options to Google checkout would definitely help the android market IMHO. ---sncltn On Apr 6, 3:33 pm, Stoyan Damov <[email protected]> wrote: > FWIW, here, in Bulgaria, virtually anybody can get a Visa "credit" > card, which is really a debit card (i.e. it's backed by your money) > and is accepted all over the world. > I haven't tried it with Google Checkout but have bought what not from > quite a lot from US and UK websites. > AFAIK all my friends have such cards for the very reason of buying online. > > Cheers > > On Mon, Apr 6, 2009 at 1:26 PM, Peli <[email protected]> wrote: > > > While we as German developers can not sell our applications yet > > through Market :-( , I can confirm that credit cards are not as wide- > > spread here as in the US. > > > Many electronic shops (like MediaMarkt or Saturn) and even McDonald's > > don't accept credit cards in most places (except, e.g. at the > > airport), and many people don't have a credit card, since a bank card > > is sufficient in most situations. > > > It is one of the reasons why PayPal is more successful here than > > Google Checkout. > > > Peli > > > On Apr 6, 12:13 am, Streets Of Boston <[email protected]> wrote: > >> Hi Andreas, > > >> Your answer about the CC confirms what i've been experiencing, that > >> having CC as the only payment option is a barrier, especially in > >> Europe. > > >> I asked my initial question because i saw a big difference in buying > >> patterns from customers from USA, UK and Germany.
