They can get the extra 250,000 USD from from the other categories. I.e. Make
the 3rd prize 20k, 2nd prize 40k, 1st prize 90k and the grand prize 500,000k!
Easy! And without having to add expend more money.

I know the chances of anybody winning the grand prize are slim, but at least it
would be a lot more fun. It will also make for better headlines.

They should at least make the overall prize $500,000 USD. That would really
make this challenge even more interesting. Not that I would complain with
250,000 USD if I won.

More interesting is the fact that the total sum of awards is much
lower than for ADC 1:

ADC 1: total 5,000,000 $
ADC 2: total 1,975,000 $

If I remember correctly, initially Google was talking about 2 times 5
million dollars.. so where are the remaining 3,025,000 $ ? Does it
mean there will be ADC 3?

Also, note that by the new rules all open source projects are excluded

(at the time of judging) is ineligible")

Also interesting is that you can only submit unpublished apss and you can not
publish them before judging.

I can see a number of people focusing on ADC development and the stream of apps
entering the market suddenly dropping :(.
