Well,

@lbcoder : no, it's not a need to respell names. It's just because the
pronounciation is really different. It's annoying for a French speaker
to write "android" because it's supposed to sounds like "an-dro-ad".
So there is a need to put the ¨ so that we pronunce it correctly. It's
just a reflex. That just means that French journalists doesn't read
what they write ;)
The Quebec law doesn't not require to respell names and brands. It's
just a usage. So you will find most Company with a translated name
(Poulet Frit du Kentucky) but that's not a rule. The law only require
that French is the main language of communication (ads, etc.)
BTW, "Androïde" is pronunciated in French exactly the same way as
Android in english thanks to that little ¨ ;)

@Jaded Tech Android actualli is a trademark of Google, so it's
considered like a name.
