For a prepaid here in Argentina it was $15 pesos which is about $3.50 U.S.

In the U.S. I just bought At&t's cheapest prepay phone and tossed the phone
and used the Sim which came with some credit.  20..30 bux if I recall, for
the phone.

My girlfriend took my android and it didn't work after pulling my chip out.
She got her sim here in Argentina.

I think it's the easiest way....
